Chapter 3 - The Mistake
As Wing Knight lay on the ground, waiting for the unbearable pain that which venting inflicts, he noticed something in Onyx's eyes. He didn't see the sense of hesitation that comes from betraying one’s friends but rather a look of sheer enjoyment. At that moment, he realized that this Rider wasn't Onyx but an impostor.
“I now know the truth,” laughed Wing Knight quietly. As he stood up, he screamed, “I know you are not Onyx. He would never betray his friends and comrades!!” He was trying to stall for some time and hoping for a miracle, and to his surprise it worked. All he could hear was a constant hysterical laughing coming from the impostor Onyx. He looked up to see the being before him change into a darker, more sinister form, his true form.
“Wow, I haven't laughed like that it years! Whew! Thanks! I needed that. Really, it's funny. I mean, you should have seen the look on your face when I changed forms. It was a classic!” joked the being as Wing Knight stared, speechless.
“Ok, enough of the corny jokes. Let’s get down to business. I bet your wondering why I’m here. Hmmm? Well, let me put it this way: I need workers: ones to build me a new world, and your people have been selected to serve me, General Xaviax, in doing so.” Xaviax boasted.
“So your name is Xaviax, huh?” asked Wing Knight as he thought to himself, “At least now I get to be vented knowing the name of the person who defeated me.”
“Ah yes, the true lament of a warrior.” said Xaviax, surprising Wing Knight
“But, how did you…” Wing Knight tried to say, but Xaviax cut him off.
“Oh, I'm sorry. Did I forget to mention that I can read minds with the help of my little friend there?” he said, pointing to a tiny monster on Wing Knight’s chest. Wing Knight didn't bother to remove it because it made no difference, one way or another, on the day he was going to be vented, along with everyone else.
“Ok, now that you know how I can read your mind, I want to tell you another secret that may shock you.” whispered Xaviax.
After not getting a response from Wing Knight, Xaviax continued: “It wasn't me who defeated you but one of your ‘true friends’ who did the work for me. How else do you think I made it past the walls and into your capital without a single peep? Because I was let in here!”
“No, it can’t be…” thought Wing Knight, shocking him to the very core. He didn't want to believe it, but then it suddenly all made sense to him. He had noticed that Dragon Knight had not been around too frequently ever since Wing Knight took on the responsibility of training Danny. Dragon Knight was often late and the last one to arrive to meetings, outings, etc. He never was around to see Danny’s progress as he trained and was always out on “missions,” as Dragon Knight said, leaving very early in the day and often coming back at very late hours.
“Why?” thought Wing Knight, “Why are you doing this to us?”
As he pondered on this, he suddenly snapped out of his trance when he heard a loud crackle. He saw that Xaviax had pooled his monsters’ energy into a final all-out blast to destroy Wing Knight once and for all.
“With this, I will sever the final link and send you to the Advent Void! No one will be able to stop me!” exclaimed Xaviax in a menacing tone.
“GOODBYE WING KNIGHT!!!!” screamed Xaviax as he hurled the ball of energy towards Wing Knight.
Just as the ball left Xaviax's hands, a blinding light shot forth from the Rider Hall, and deflected it back at him.
“What the!?!” Xaviax screamed, as he barely had enough time to dodge the blast that would have left him in pieces.
“Was that too hot to handle for a hot head like you?” called a voice from within the light.
“Sorry I'm late, Wing Knight. It took a lot longer than Master Ubalon thought it would. Now that I am here, I will fight in his stead!” declared a proud voice, showing no hesitation.
“Danny?” asked a weary Wing Knight.
"Yes and no. In this form, I am Kamen Rider DragonFist. And I am here to make sure you pay for what you did, Xaviax!" cried Danny.
“What makes you think you can stop me?” challenged Xaviax, although he knew just from looking at him, he was the same Rider that stopped him many years ago. But he also noticed that in this form, his true power wasn’t awakened quite yet because if it was, then Xaviax wouldn't stand a chance against the heir to the DragonFist deck. He knew this, but Danny didn't.
KAMEN RIDER DRAGONFIST : Strike Vent. Danny slipped on his vent and unleashed a torrent of flame at Xaviax, engulfing the monsters that protected him.
“You'll run out of monsters sooner or later, Xaviax!” screamed DragonFist. This fight carried on into the night, with neither side giving in, but Xaviax saw that DragonFist's power was beginning to weaken and saw that his opportunity would be near.
“Come on just a little bit more…” Danny pleaded with himself, willing his body to finish this battle once and for all.
KAMEN RIDER DRAGONFIST: Sword Vent. As swords clashed, Danny and Xaviax fought diligently, each one looking to outclass the other either side and not giving an inch, for if they did, it would mean their destruction. Then, out of nowhere, DragonFist was blindsided by one of Xaviax's Monsters and drawing his attention away from Xaviax for a couple of seconds. Xaviax saw this as the moment he needed and struck DragonFist down to the ground with a hard slash to DragonFist’s chest.
“Finally! It's over! The better being has won!” declared Xaviax.
“Not so fast! Did you forget where I draw my power from?” questioned DragonFist. “Here, I'll answer it for you.”
As he spoke these last words, the sun broke the horizon and empowered DragonFist. Recharged temporarily by the sun’s energy, in one motion, DragonFist quickly got back up and knocked Xaviax away with a hard kick to Xaviax’s chest.
KAMEN RIDER DRAGONFIST: Final Vent. DragonFist rose into the air and unleashed a Rider Kick that, if he was at full power, would have vented Xaviax. Instead, it greatly wounded him and forced him to flee Ventara, but he succeeded in giving his monsters enough time to kidnap every single Ventaran. Danny knew he couldn’t do anything more, so he de-morphed back to his human form. Clutching his deck, he walked around Ventara, trying to find anyone that had not been kidnapped by Xaviax, but he could not find anyone. Even Wing Knight was gone, but his deck wasn't stolen, which led Danny to realize that he has not been vented yet and knew that he would see him again one day. After Danny took all this in, he realized that he needed to find a new home, so he set off and disappeared into the distance of an empty Ventara.
I haven't seen any sign of him since.
Going through the Advent Void and looking back on all of this, I've come to realize that the one at fault isn't Xaviax, who stole the Advent decks to further his own power. Rather, I was at fault for creating the decks in the first place. But now that those problems are in the past, I must right my own mistakes. But will making more decks only cause more evil than good? Yes, but it is the only way for me to solve this problem. With new resolve, I shall right the wrong I created.
