Chapter 2 - Return to the Beginning

After I had given Kamen Rider Frost his Advent deck, I had noticed the internal conflict emanating from him at the time, so I decided to keep my distance and give him some time to settle on the hand I dealt him. As I returned to the Advent Void, thoughts ran through my head as to how this all came about. Recalling back, I remembered the Ventaran training grounds and a very special day.

“Left, right, left, right!” called out Wing Knight to a young boy whom he was training. This boy's name is Danny Ryu. Not much is known about this boy except that he was going to become the second most powerful Kamen Rider that ever existed. Wing Knight continued to hound the boy, not letting up, but the boy stayed persistent and listened to his master.

“Good, good! I think you’re ready.” said Wing Knight.

“Ready for what? I’ve been here for months and you guys still haven’t told me when I can help you. I’ve been training relentlessly in hopes that you guys would let me fight alongside you!” replied Danny.

A mysterious voice called out of nowhere, “It is not your destiny to fight alongside the Kamen Riders, but to lead them in a final stand against the monster hordes!” But Danny knew who it was and bowed his head in respect.

“Master Ubalon! It's good to see you out and about today,” said Danny with a smile on his face.

“Of course!” cried the old master. “You think I'm going to miss this day? Not in a million years!”

“Well, there was this one time about a few hundred years ago, when he did miss something important,” called Camo as he slinked his way down the training tower.

“What do you mean, Master Camo?” asked Danny, still confused.

“I think he's talking about his dentist appointment,” laughed Siren as she landed gracefully on the ground.

And one by one, from their separate doings, each and every Kamen Rider that existed and was good at the time came up for this momentous occasion, each one as proud of Danny as the next. But as the lighthearted jokes continued, they were all unaware of the danger that lurked right next to them this very day. As the day went on, the people of Ventara gathered, eager to hear what the Master had to say. When the commotion settled, Master Ubalon began his speech.

“Citizens of Ventara! Today is a glorious day! As you all know, my student, Kamen Rider Wing Knight, has been training a young boy not only in the martial arts but also in the history of Ventara as well. He has excelled beyond my expectations as well as impressed all the Kamen Riders with his strong resolve and determination. And now, I proudly present to you, the new Kamen Rider DragonFist!” When Master Ubalon had spoken this, Danny almost passed out from disbelief as the citizens rejoiced below.

“What are you talking about?!? I thought Master Ubalon was Kamen Rider DragonFist!” Shocked at what he just heard, Danny became speechless. After he regained his composure, he asked, “How can I be DragonFist when Master Ubalon is?”

“Very easy, Danny,” Master Ubalon replied. “You have a dormant power in you that we were preparing to awaken today after your training. I no longer have the power to maintain the DragonFist Advent deck. Kamen Rider Advent chose you to be trained so that you will receive it.” Master Ubalon looked to Danny with extreme seriousness.

Master Ubalon, being all wise, went on to tell the legend of the DragonFist Advent deck.

“My dear Ventarans, millennia ago before the monster invasions, Ventara was a peaceful place, but an unknown force brought evil on our land. But as evil begets evil, good begets good. One night, many a year ago, there was a terrible battle that took place here in the capital. The monsters had invaded out of nowhere, attacking and killing all. But when all hope was lost, an entity stepped in from the heavens and granted me the power of the very first Advent Deck: the DragonFist deck. With this, I used all of my power to fight off the monsters, and tried to bring order to our land.” Master Ubalon was interrupted by a sickening cough that has terrorized him for a long time. Everyone in the crowd knew why. The Kamen Riders knew why. Even the animals knew why. But Danny didn't.

“Sorry. I don’t know what came over me. Where was I? Ah yes,” Master Ubalon continued.

“But with all of my efforts, I was unskilled and had only one last resort. I used the NovaBomb. By combining my energies with my Beast, Dragolder, I destroyed all evil entities in the area, but at the cost of my own power. Ever since, I have not been able to use the Advent deck. So you see, Danny, now this power will be passed onto you, and I may finally rest in solemn peace.” All the Kamen Riders turned to look at Master Ubalon, who was in his most serene state that they have ever seen. Danny followed Master Ubalon into the Rider Hall, where the Kamen Rider ceremonies always took place.
“Are you ready, Danny?” asked the serene old master.

“Yes” replied a scared, yet excited little boy. But Danny knew he had to shake it off and become a man. This is what the Riders had trained him for. If he choked now, what kind of example would he set for the people of Ventara and for his home? He stood up straight and with pride, took Master Ubalon's hand and began the transfer of power.

Meanwhile, outside the Hall, people were celebrating and waiting anxiously for Danny and Master Ubalon to return from the Hall, unaware of the danger that was heading towards them at this very moment.

Suddenly, the sky grew dark, and the winds picked up. Then Kamen Rider Wing Knight saw it: in the air, in the sea, and even on the ground, thousands of monsters were marching towards the capital city, preparing to attack.

“SOUND THE ALARMS!!!!!!” cried Wing Knight, but it was too late. The monsters were already inside the city and taking the people. As Wing Knight looked on he saw the figure that led them: Dragon Knight, but not in his normal red armor, but a dark, pure black suit of armor. Wing Knight couldn’t believe his eyes.

“TRAITOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” screamed Wing Knight as he fought off countless monsters to try to save the people. It wasn’t too long before only a few Riders were left, including Wing Knight. All the others had been vented and their decks stolen. Wing Knight watched in horror while the dark Dragon Knight vented the remaining Riders in front of his eyes.

“Why?” pleaded Wing Knight. “Why are you doing this, Dragon Knight?”

The dark Dragon Knight chuckled at Wing Knight’s questions and then replied, “First of all, I am no longer the Dragon Knight you knew, but I have been reborn as a new Kamen Rider. You can call me Onyx now. The reason why I am doing this? Because the power of darkness is so much more powerful than what we used to call power!”

This shocked Wing Knight to see one of his best friends and comrades in battle turn to the power of darkness. He felt the chilling waves of the corruptive power trying to embrace him, tempting him to turn to the power of darkness and join his fellow Kamen Rider comrade, but he shook it off.

“The power we had was enough to destroy the monsters, but did that ever accomplish anything? No! You guys never understood this, but I have for a long time. And now I finally know what the power of darkness grants: infinite power. Now with limitless strength, no longer will I be looked down upon by you guys for my desire to gain more power!” exclaimed Onyx as he pulled out his final vent card and slid it into his card reader.

“With this, I will end it all!” said Onyx as he jumped into the air with Wing Knight watching helplessly, unable to do anything but just sit there and wait to be vented.
